There are some examples we can share with you from real life that illustrate why a professional company can do a better job of screening potential tenants. First, think about credit checks. It’s easy to want to trust a tenant. They will give you an official looking credit report and you will take a look at it and think – wonderful! They are qualified. But it’s easy to falsify these documents, and we have seen it happen. We never accept credit reports from tenants or outside sources. We pull them ourselves and we’re really good at reading them. Pay stubs are another area of concern when you’re trying to verify income. In a digital age, it’s also easy to falsify those documents. Look up the company the tenants work for, Google the correct phone number, and make sure you’re talking to a real supervisor. It should all make sense, and the information on the application should match the information that you receive from an employment reference.
